If you're looking at this car you either 1) Know what it is or 2) Wondering what the heck it is. This is one of the few micro cars built...small motor...it was known for getting over 50 MPG...has a top speed of abou 55 MPH...Three gallon gas tank...Front Opening Door...a real rarity Today is has a cult following because it's unique, stylish, practical (kind of), retro and forward looking all at the same time. For more details you can go to Wikipedia and put in BMW Isetta 300. It's extremely interesting...and has quite a story behind it. Some highlights:They sold about 160,000 of them,..has a 13 HP Engine...4 Speed Transmission...Top Speed of 53 MPH...50-75 MPG...And is commonly referred to as the "Urkel Car" after the character who drove one in "Family Matters" For you collectors, this car has been meticulously restored...VIN #505025.... VIN plate says it's a USA Import...not a Gray Market car. Too many things done to go into here. Some pictures up here at the site. But looks great...smells great...great tires..great repaint (Lime Green) I took it to a BMW mechanic to have it checked out. 1) It runs...but looks like the jets need to be cleaned out. Idles well...midrange hesitates...then runs strong closer to full throttle 2) Clutch Plates sticking. Looks like this car has set for awhile and the clutch plates are sticking together. I'm having him give me a price on fixing it. Normally you would just pop the clutch and break the plates loose, but this car only has about 15 HP so not enough torque to break it free. Inside well above average shape. For instance, the Steering wheel and knobs (Ivory colored) look like new. I'm pricing it at $18,995 which seems reasonable considering the condition, restoration and it's running.
